Premier League side Bournemouth have broken their transfer record in order to sign Chelsea defender Nathan Ake. The 22-year-old Dutch international started last season on loan at Bournemouth and had some impressive performances in the Premier League, scoring three goals in twelve appearances. The good performances determined Chelsea manager Antonio Conte to recall him at Stamford Bridge as the Blues were dealing with an injury crisis in defense.
Bournemouth will sign Nathan Ake for a reported fee around 20 million pounds, which breaks the record they set when they signed Jordon Ibe from Liverpool for 15 million pounds last summer. Ake has signed a long-term contract with the Cherries, becoming their third signing of the summer after goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and striker Jermain Defoe. Ake joined Chelsea back in 2012 at the age of 16 but only made 17 appearances for the club. He did play in the Premier League before last season as well as he spent a full campaign on loan at Watford.
"I had a great time last season so I'm really happy to be back," said Ake. "The fan haven't seen the best of me yet." The young Dutch defender has also managed to break into the senior national team and made his debut in a friendly match against Morocco in June. Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: "Nathan is an outstanding young player with a fantastic attitude and a great desire to learn and develop. He has a very bright future ahead of him and I'm very pleased to say that future is here."
Bournemouth are 20/1 at Bet365 to finish inside the Premier League top six next season.
