Manchester United have a tough away match on Saturday as they face in-form Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Last season Manchester United managed to defeat the Cherries both home and away, 1-0 at Old Trafford and 2-0 in Bournemouth. Overall, the Red Devils have won four of the last six direct matches, two in Manchester and two in Bournemouth. The Cherries did produce two upsets against United, first they defeated them 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium in 2015 and then secured a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in the 2016-2017 season, a match which saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic miss a penalty kick.
Bournemouth have been in great form lately, they are undefeated in their last six matches in all competitions and have won five of them. Last weekend they secured a 3-0 victory at Fulham in the Premier League, and this week they defeated Norwich 2-1 in the fourth round of the League Cup. They have scored two or more goals in each of their last five victories and have not lost a match since the surprising 4-0 defeat at Burnley in September. They are currently sixth in the Premier League table, three points above eighth-placed Manchester United. Joshua King is the only injury concern for manager Eddie Howe, but he might recover in time for Saturday's match after having missed the last couple of games.
Manchester United have won just two of their last eight matches in all competitions, but Jose Mourinho is still in charge and determined to steady the ship. Last weekend the Red Devils
defeated Everton 2-1 at Old Trafford with goals from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, but they have not collected consecutive victories since the beginning of September. Romelu Lukaku was dropped to the bench last weekend as he is out of form and severely lacking confidence and the Belgium international might remain on the bench at Bournemouth as well. Marouane Fellaini and Diogo Dalot are injured, but Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones have a slight chance of playing.
Probable line-ups:
Bournemouth: Begovic - Francis, S. Cook, Ake - Smith, Lerma, L. Cook, Daniels - Brooks, Wilson, Fraser
Man United: De Gea - Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw - Fred, Matic, Pogba - Mata, Rashford, Martial
My prediction: Bournemouth to win 2-1, the Cherries are a solid team and this Manchester United can't deny them.
