Title favourites Manchester City start their Premier League on Saturday with a trip to newly-promoted Brighton at the Amex Stadium. This is the first ever season in the Premier League for Brighton and they got probably the toughest opponent they could get for the opening day of the campaign. However, Brighton did record a famous victory over the Citizens when they last met, it was in the League Cup back in 2008 and the underdogs won the match on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the end of 120 minutes of play.
Brighton finished second in the Championship last season and earned automatic promotion to the Premier League, a very proud moment for the club and their fans. They have signed a few players this summer but no big names, their main strength will probably be the determination to survive in the top flight. Sam Baldock is injured and will miss out, while Beram Kayal will be out for some time with a broken leg.
Manchester City are the bookmakers' favourites to win the Premier League this season thanks to their impressive activities on the transfer market this summer. They have spent over 200 million pounds on new players and they are expected to record a comfortable victory on opening day. New signing Benjamin Mendy won't be able to make his debut now due to an injury, but manager Pep Guardiola has a vast number of quality players.

Obviously it was an important start of season for both teams, Brighton looked for a positive start to of their PL campaign and of course City wanted a kick start to their PL title challenge. The host team has done pretty decent for the first 70 minutes looking not to concede mainly but of course like is usual at that level the first mistake from the underdog was punished and in the end City got their positive start.
