Premier League: Brighton vs Sheffield United preview

High-flying Sheffield United are hoping to grab a third consecutive Premier League win when they visit Brighton at Amex Stadium on Saturday. These two teams have not met since the 2005-2006 season, when both were playing in the Championship. Overall, Sheffield United have won four of the last six direct meetings while Brighton collected just one victory, but all those matches have been played between 2002 and 2006.

Brighton are showing signs of improving form, they are undefeated in their last three league matches, a streak that started with a 2-1 victory at Arsenal and continued with scoring draws against Wolves and Crystal Palace. The Seagulls are currently thirteenth in the Premier League table, five points clear of the relegation zone and also five points behind sixth-placed Manchester United. Dale Stephens is available again after having served his ban last weekend, while Jose Izquierdo and Solly March are out injured. Aaron Connolly is the only injury doubt for the home side ahead of this game.

Sheffield United are having a fabulous season so far and it seems relegation won't be a concern for them this time. They have won their last two league matches, 2-1 at Norwich and then 2-0 at home against Aston Villa, and they are tied on 25 points with sixth-placed Manchester United. The Blades have lost just four league games this season, but none of those were away from home, where they collected two wins and six draws so far. Midfielder John Fleck is suspended for this match, while Callum Robinson is an injury doubt for the away side.

Probable line-ups:

Brighton: Ryan - Montoya, Webster, Dunk, Burn - Stephens, Propper - Mooy, Gross, Trossard - Maupay

Sheffield United: Henderson - Basham, Egan, O'Connell - Baldock, Lundstram, Norwood, Freeman, Stevens - McGoldrick, Mousset

My prediction:

Brighton are no pushovers, but Sheffiled United have been very strong away from home this season and I think they will be able to snatch a 1-1 draw here.
