Young Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was finally persuaded by the club to sign a new contract, the 18-year-old agreed a five-year contract worth in excess of 100,000 pounds per week. The teenager had made a formal transfer request to the club in January after he Blues rejected an offer worth 35 million pounds for him from Bayern Munich. The youngster wanted more first-team football at the time, while former Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri was not prepared to put him into the starting eleven ahead of big stars like Eden Hazard or Pedro.
In April the youngster suffered an Achilles injury and he is expected to return to action in September. New Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has most likely had a chat with Hudson-Odoi and that interaction is what persuaded the teenager to tie his future to the club. The teenager made 24 appearances and scored five goals last season, but most of the appearances were as a substitute as he only had his first Premier League start in April. He has already made his debut for the England senior national team.
Callum Hudson-Odoi goals and skills
Frank Lampard, who has taken over as manager at Chelsea in July, said that Hudson-Odoi has the potential to become "a huge player" for the club. "I am not going to say things that are pie in the sky but, with his talent, he can be central to this team, he can be central to England," Lampard added. "He can show, right here at Chelsea, the team he came through the academy at, that he is going to be a world-class player - because I truly believe that." Young midfielders Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have signed new contracts with the club since Lampard took over from Sarri.
Chelsea finished last season in third place and now they are 25/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.

I don't know for me is a bit too much granting a so young player with that size of a paycheck but maybe amid Bayern's interest in him Chelsea were forced to do that to keep Hudson-Odoi in the club. But for me the guy is still just a great promise and whether this move will pay off for Chelsea is about for us to see in the upcoming years.
