Premier League: Chelsea vs Sheffield United preview

Premier League: Chelsea vs Sheffield United preview

Chelsea are looking to secure their first home victory of the Premier League season and Saturday's match looks like a great opportunity as they host newly-promoted Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge. The two sides have last met during the 2006-2007 season, when Sheffield United lost 2-0 at home and 3-0 away against Chelsea before getting relegated to the Championship. The last time Sheffield United won an away match against Chelsea was in 1973.

Chelsea had a pretty rough start to the season, they got beaten 4-0 at Manchester United in the first weekend of the campaign and then lost the UEFA Super Cup on penalties against Liverpool. Young striker Tammy Abraham missed the decisive penalty kick on that occasion, but last weekend he bounced back with a superb double at Norwich, which gave Chelsea the first victory of the season. The main worry for manager Frank Lampard should be the defence, the Blues have conceded in each of their four competitive games so far and have let in no less than seven goals in their three Premier League matches. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Antonio Rudiger are sidelined for the home side, while N'Golo Kante, Pedro and Mason Mount are doubts.

Sheffield United had a pretty good start to their life in the Premier League, they grabbed a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth in the first weekend and then defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at home to collect their first victory. Last week they lost 2-1 at home against Leicester, but they recovered in the League Cup this week and defeated Blackburn 2-1. It is interesting to note that they have scored in each of their four competitive matches this season. Kean Bryan got injured during the cup game and is expected to miss Saturday's Premier League fixture.

Probable line-ups:

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga - Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Emerson - Kovacic, Jorginho, Barkley - Willian, Abraham, Pulisic

Sheffield United: Henderson - Basham, Egan, O'Connell - Baldock, Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck, Stevens - McGoldrick, Robinson

My prediction:

Chelsea should be able to win this match, but given their defensive problems and Sheffield United's goal scoring record, I believe the visitors will find the back of the net at Stamford Bridge. I believe Chelsea will win this game 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at NetBet

Sheffield United win - 9.50
