Crystal Palace face Tottenham at Selhurst Park on Saturday in a London derby between two sides that are looking to play European football next season. Tottenham might even push for the title, as they are just five points away from the top of the table. Palace have managed just one win out of the previous five meetings against the two sides, that victory was at Selhurst Park last season. This season Tottenham won 1-0 at White Hart Lane.
The Eagles have not enjoyed Christmas last year and are yet to recover from that period. Their last Premier League win was on December 19, when they won 2-1 at Stoke. Since then they grabbed just two points out of five matches, during the longest winless streak under manager Alan Pardew. They are coming from three consecutive defeats now, two predictable ones against Chelsea and Manchester City but also a disappointing one against bottom side Aston Villa. Yannick Bolasie is still out of contention, along with Bakary Sako and Dwight Gayle.
Tottenham were unable to win any of their first three matches in 2016, but recovered last week with a 4-1 victory over Sunderland. This week they defeated Leicester 2-0 in the FA Cup. They are unbeaten in nine away matches at the moment, they have not lost away from home in the Premier League since the opening day defeat at Manchester United. Mauricio Pochettino rested a few players for the midweek cup match, including Harry Kane.
Probable line-ups:
Crystal Palace: Hennessey - Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare - Ledley, Cabaye, McArthur - Puncheon, Wickham, Zaha
Tottenham: Lloris - Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies - Dier, Bentaleb, Son, Eriksen, Alli - Kane
My prediction: Tottenham to win 1-0.
