Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has committed his future to the Foxes as he signed a new five-year deal with the club. The 26-year-old was one of the most important players last season when Leicester pulled off one of the biggest surprises in football by winning the Premier League title. His performances also brought him his first caps for the England national team.
Drinkwater's previous contract was due to run out in 2018 and Tottenham have been reportedly interested in signing him. But Leicester did well this summer to extend the contracts of most of last season's stars, including Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan and Andy King. Manager Claudio Ranieri also signed a new long-term contract with the club.
Danny Drinkwater said: "I couldn't be happier. I've loved playing for this club, it's been perfect for me and my career and I want to be here for a long time to come. We've been through so much together and I'm sure there's a lot more to come." Manager Ranieri was equally pleased: "Since I joined, Danny has been one of our most consistent players. He's a fantastic player and a fantastic man. He's an important player for us and a very popular player in the dressing room. I want him to stay with us for a very long time."
Leicester City are 66/1 at Bet365 to successfully defend their Premier League title this season.
