Everton have confirmed the signing of Yannick Bolasie from Crystal Palace, with the player signing a five-year contract with the Toffees. The 27-year-old winger was on the bench last weekend as Crystal Palace lost 1-0 to West Brom, and even played in the second half after he replaced Lee Chung-Yong. The transfer fee was not disclosed, but media reports claim it was around 25 million pounds.
"I'm looking forward to putting on the Everton shirt," Bolasie said after the deal was confirmed. "This is a big club and I know all about it from having played against them over the years. It's not about the money for me. It's about looking at the ambition of the Club and where they are trying to get to. I just like to play football. It's going to be really interesting to learn from someone like Ronald Koeman, who was obviously a top centre-back as a player and he played with some of the best players in the world. This season is going to be very interesting and I'm looking forward to being part of it here at Everton.”
Bolasie was born in France but has chosen to represent Democratic Republic of the Congo at international level, with 27 caps and 7 goals so far. His career started in England with Rushden & Diamonds, then as a senior he played for various lower league clubs and even had a spell in the Maltese top flight at Floriana. He joined Crystal Palace in 2012 and went on to make 133 league appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
Everton drew 1-1 with Tottenham at Goodison Park last weekend and they are are 7/2 at Bet365 to secure a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.
