Liverpool have the chance to move back at the top of the Premier League table when they visit Fulham at Craven Cottage in London on Sunday, all they need is the three points. The reverse fixture was a fairly easy won for the Reds, they won it 2-0 in November with goals from Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri. That was the fifth consecutive win for Liverpool against Fulham, while the last victory for the Cottagers against the Reds was in 2012 at Anfield. The last time Fulham won a home match against Liverpool was in 2011, when they grabbed a 1-0 victory thanks to a late goal from Clint Dempsey.
Fulham are still without a permanent manager and apparently without substantial hopes of surviving in the Premier League. Interim manager Scott Parker lost his first two matches in charge, 2-1 at home against Chelsea and then 3-1 at Leicester, and the Cottagers are now thirteen points away from safety. Fulham have lost their last six Premier League matches and they would need to win at least five of the remaining eight matches while they only won four out of 30 so far this season. Alfie Mawson and Marcus Bettinelli are still out injured, while Andre Schurrle lacks match fitness and will most likely start on the bench.
Liverpool can return to the top of the league table because leaders Manchester City are involved in the FA Cup this weekend, so the Reds could move two points clear for now if they win at Fulham. This week the Reds have proven their strength with a 3-1 victory at Bayern Munich in the Champions League, a result which granted them access to the quarter-finals. Last weekend Liverpool won 4-2 at home against Burnley, but they have drawn their last three away matches in the Premier League. Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson remain sidelined, but Dejan Lovren could make his return to the starting eleven after having been on the bench for the last couple of matches.
Probable line-ups:
Fulham: Rico - Odoi, Nordtveit, Ream, Bryan - Chambers, McDonald - Babel, Cairney, Sessegnon - Mitrovic
Liverpool: Alisson - Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson - Lallana, Fabinho, Wijnaldum - Salah, Firmino, Mane
My prediction: Liverpool to win 3-0, the stakes are high for the Reds and Fulham don't have the strength or the motivation to deny them.
