Premier League: Fulham vs Manchester United preview

Manchester United will be looking to collect their second consecutive Premier League victory when they visit Fulham at Craven Cottage in London on Saturday. The reverse fixture was a fairly easy one for the Red Devils, they won it 4-1 with goals from Ashley Young, Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford. Manchester United have won eight of the last ten direct matches in all competitions, and the other two games were draws. Fulham have not won a match against Manchester United since 2009, when they managed to grab a 3-0 Premier League victory in London. Fulham have ended their four-game losing streak in all competitions with a 4-2 home victory over Brighton at the end of January, but a few days later they returned to losing as Crystal Palace defeated them 2-0 at Selhurst Park last weekend. That was their fourth defeat in the last five Premier League matches and it left them in 19th place, seven points away from safety. The situation will soon become desperate for manager Claudio Ranieri and his men, unless they will somehow pull together a winning streak of at least two or three matches. New signings Lazar Markovic and Havard Nordtveit could make their debut for Fulham in this match, while Cyrus Christie and Marcus Bettinelli are both injury doubts. Manchester United have returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Leicester City last weekend, after the 2-2 draw at home against Burnley at the end of January. Marcus Rashford scored the winning goal at King Power Stadium at the weekend, allowing the Red Devils to leapfrog Arsenal in fifth place, just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to think about next week as well, when his team will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, so probably a few first-team regulars might be rested. Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo have returned to training but will probably sit this one out.
