Inconsistent Liverpool will be looking to avoid being the victim of another upset when they visit Huddersfield at Kirklees Stadium on Tuesday. The reverse fixture was pretty straightforward for the Reds, they won it 3-0 with goals from Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum after Mohammed Salah missed a penalty kick. The last time Huddersfield won against Liverpool was all the way back in 1959, when both teams were playing in League Division Two.
Huddersfield have managed to keep afloat somehow, they are currently in fourteenth place and four points clear of the relegation zone, but that could change quickly. In fact, they have lost their last three Premier League matches and have not won a league match since the spectacular 4-1 victory at Watford on December 16. Last time out they lost 2-0 at Stoke City, while last weekend they got held to a 1-1 draw at home by Birmingham in the FA Cup. Danny Williams got injured during that match and will most likely miss out, along with Jon Gorenc Stankovic and Elias Kachunga.
Liverpool have sunk into despair in just a fortnight after having been brimming with confidence and pride following the great 4-3 victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City on January 14. That result was followed by a shocking 1-0 defeat at bottom side Swansea and then last weekend by a 3-2 loss at home against West Brom in the FA Cup. Adam Bogdan and Nathaniel Clyne remain injured, while Daniel Sturridge, Ragnar Klavan and Adam Lallana are fitness doubts.
Probable line-ups:
Huddersfield: Lossl - Smith, Zanka, Schindler, Malone - Hogg, Mooy - Ince, Pritchard, Parra - Depoitre
Liverpool: Karius - Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson - Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Can - Salah, Firmino, Mane
My prediction: Liverpool to win 3-1.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
