Liverpool will be looking to end a streak of four matches without a victory in all competitions when they visit Huddersfield at Kirklees Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Last season the Reds won both matches against Huddersfield with the same score, 3-0, and striker Roberto Firmino got his name on the score sheet on both occasions. Overall, Liverpool have won nine of the last eleven matches against Huddersfield in all competitions. The last time Huddersfield managed to defeat Liverpool was all the way back in 1959, when both teams were playing in League Division Two.
Huddersfield are still looking for their first victory of the season, that's a reason to be concerned for their fans and board since the campaign has started more than two months ago. So far they have only managed to score four goals and grab three points in eight Premier League matches, and have conceded no less than 17 times. Before the international break, Huddersfield managed to clinch a 1-1 draw at Burnley to stop a three-game losing streak, but so far they haven't scored at all in their home matches this season. Terence Kongolo is sidelined for the home side, while Ramadan Sobhi, Danny Williams, Philip Billing, Chris Löwe and Tommy Smith are all injury doubts.
Liverpool are going through their worst period of the season, after seven consecutive wins in all competitions they recorded four matches without a win. However, their last two Premier League matches were creditable draws against Manchester City and Chelsea, the two teams that the Reds are tied with on 20 points at the top of the table. Apart from those two draws, Liverpool lost against Napoli in the Champions League and against Chelsea in the League Cup. Manager Jurgen Klopp is probably disappointed that Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane all came back from the international break with injuries, but they do have a chance of recovering in time for Saturday's match.
Probable line-ups:
Huddersfield: Lossl - Durm, Zanka, Schindler, Lowe - Hogg, Mooy - Kachunga, Pritchard, Parra - Depoitre
Liverpool: Alisson - Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson - Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum - Salah, Firmino, Shaqiri
My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-0, the Reds can't miss this chance against a weak opponent.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
