Premier League: Jack Wilshere wants to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal creative midfielder Jack Wilshere has expressed his desire to remain at the club, even though he was unable to find an agreement to extend his contract that is going to run out at the end of the current season. Wilshere, now aged 26, has been at the club since the age of 9 and has only played for two other clubs, where the Gunners sent him out on loan. The England midfielder admitted that his contract situation was made even more difficult by Arsene Wenger's announced departure from the club at the end of the current season. "We are still in the same position really," Wilshere said. "Not much has changed. We are still talking. Obviously the boss has left which has changed things a little bit because I don't know who is going to be the manager next year and that can change things. But we are still talking and I am hopeful and the club is hopeful we can get something done." Jack Wilshere did not play in Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United because Arsene Wenger chose to rest him for Thursday's UEFA Europa League semi-final match against Atletico Madrid. Jack Wilshere insists he has not even considered a move away from Arsenal at the end of the season: "To be honest with you, I haven't really thought about moving somewhere else. I have said before that this is where I want to be and I have not really had much time to think about moving clubs. We have been playing every three or four days for the last three or four months so it has been difficult. I am concentrating on games and obviously the boss left so it has been a bad couple of months to be honest." Jack Wilshere is 8/11 to remain at Arsenal at the end of the summer transfer window and 5/1 to join Everton.
