Premier League: Liverpool vs Arsenal preview
League leaders Arsenal will be looking to consolidate their place at the top of the table when they travel to Anfield Road to meet Liverpool on Wednesday. Arsenal are currently two points clear of second-placed Leicester, so a defeat could see them lose top spot. Liverpool are currently in eighth position, 12 points behind the Gunners. The Reds have won just one of the last nine direct matches against Arsenal, but that win was a memorable 5-1 in 2014. The reverse fixture this season was a goalless draw, while last season's meeting at Anfield ended 2-2 with a stoppage time goal from Martin Skrtel. Liverpool had mixed results in their cup efforts last week, first they won 1-0 at Stoke City to boost their chances of reaching the League Cup final but then were held to a 2-2 draw by League Two side Exeter City in the FA Cup. Their last league match ended with a 2-0 defeat at West Ham United, a terrible way to end a two-game winning streak. The list of injured players keeps growing constantly at Anfield, no less than 13 members of the squad could be sidelined for this match. Mamadou Sakho could make his return though, while Jordan Henderson and Jordon Ibe are the latest additions to the injured list. Arsenal have been fairly consistent this season, despite going through their usual injury crisis. They have gone through rough results but always seemed to recover. The most recent example is what happened after the 4-0 thrashing at Southampton on Boxing Day. After that terrible defeat the Gunners have beaten Bournemouth and Newcastle without conceding and also went 3-1 past Sunderland in the FA Cup. However, their away form has not been too good so far, their last away win in the league was in December at struggling Aston Villa. Tomas Rosicky, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla remain sidelined, while Alexis Sanchez is close to making his return. Probable line-ups: Liverpool: Mignolet - Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno - Can, Lucas - Milner, Firmino, Lallana - Benteke Arsenal: Cech - Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal - Flamini, Ramsey - Walcott, Ozil, Campbell - Giroud My prediction: 2-2 draw. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Liverpool win - 2.87 Draw - 3.40 Arsenal win - 2.60
