Premier League: Liverpool vs Southampton preview
Liverpool are looking to extend their Premier League winning streak to six games when they face Southampton at Anfield on Saturday. Last season the Reds won both league matches against the Saints, 3-0 at Anfield and 2-0 at St. Mary's. Southampton have not scored a Premier League goal against Liverpool since March 2016, when they also secured their most recent Premier League victory against the Reds. After that the Saints also defeated Liverpool in the League Cup semi-finals in 2017 by winning 1-0 both home and away. Overall, the record of the last six direct meetings show an evenly balanced two wins apiece and two draws. Liverpool have been red-hot so far this season, they have secured five wins out of five matches in the Premier League and this week they started their Champions League campaign with an impressive 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield. Roberto Firmino scored the winning goal in stoppage time and he also scored in last weekend's 2-1 Premier League victory at Tottenham. Manager Jurgen Klopp doesn't have any fresh injury concerns ahead of Saturday's match, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain out of contention while Dejan Lovren has returned to training but is unlikely to get into the starting eleven at the moment. Southampton have managed to recover from two consecutive defeats, they bounced back with a 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace before the international break but then were unable to get more than a 2-2 home draw against Brighton. The Saints surely are bitter about that result because they seemed capable of winning the match and held a 2-0 lead with less than 25 minutes left in the match. Manager Mark Hughes doesn't have any injury worries ahead of this match but he will have to do without striker Danny Ings, who is on a loan contract from Liverpool and can't play against his parent club. Probable line-ups: Liverpool: Alisson - Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson - Milner, Wijnaldum, Keita - Salah, Firmino, Mane Southampton: McCarthy - Soares, Vestergaard, Hoedt, Bertrand - Elyounoussi, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Redmond - Austin, Long My prediction: Liverpool to win 4-1, the Reds can't be stopped by a team like Southampton at the moment. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Liverpool win - 1.20 Draw - 6.50 Southampton win - 13.00
