Liverpool will be trying to snap out of their winless streak but they face a tough opponent in Tottenham at Anfield Road on Saturday. The reverse fixture ended 1-1 at the start of the season, but the two teams have also met in the League Cup in October and Liverpool won 2-1. Tottenham have not won at Anfield Road since 2011 and have not beaten the Reds in the last nine direct meetings.
Liverpool are going through one of their worst moments of the season, they have not won any of their last five matches in all competitions and lost four of them. Moreover, they have not won a Premier League match since December 31st, when they defeated Manchester City 1-0. Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren are fitness doubts but they should be able to play, while manager Jurgen Klopp might decide to bench goalkeeper Simon Mignolet after his poor performance in the 2-0 defeat at Hull last time out.
Tottenham are unbeaten since December 11th, that's a streak of eleven matches in all competitions, with nine wins and two draws. Last weekend they squeezed past Middlesbrough 1-0 thanks to a penalty kick converted by Harry Kane. They are nine points behind Chelsea at the moment, they surely need a win to put pressure on the Blues. Jan Vertonghen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Danny Rose are injured, while Erik Lamela and Kieran Trippier are close to their returns.
Probable line-ups:
Liverpool: Karius - Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner - Wijnaldum, Henderson, Lallana - Mane, Firmino, Coutinho
Tottenham: Lloris - Walker, Dier, Alderweireld, Davies - Wanyama, Dembele - Eriksen, Alli, Son Heung-Ming - Kane
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
