Premier League: Luke Shaw set to leave Manchester United

English left-back Luke Shaw doesn't seem to have a future at Manchester United under manager Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese boss criticized the player publicly once again. The youngster was substituted at half-time during Saturday's 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory against Brighton and after the match Mourinho didn't even try to hide his reasons. The manager insisted that he was unhappy with both full-backs, including right-back Antonio Valencia, but chose to substitute only Shaw. "At least Antonio defensively was capable of good positioning," Mourinho said after the match. "Luke, in the first half, every time they came in his corridor, the cross came in and a dangerous situation was coming. I was not happy with his performance." This is not the first time that Mourinho criticizes Shaw publicly and last season the manager even questioned the left-back's approach to training and his commitment to the club. "I cannot compare the way he trains and commits, the focus, the ambition. He is a long way behind," Mourinho said about Shaw last April. Luke Shaw, aged 22, joined Manchester United from Southampton for 27 million pounds in 2014 but suffered a broken leg and was out for almost a year. Despite the injury and the lack of games for Shaw, Manchester United have triggered the option of an additional year on his contract, which runs out in 2019. However, with just 15 appearances for United this season, it is very likely that the left-back will be sold this summer.
