The biggest spenders of the summer transfer window are about to complete some player sales as well, Manchester City are set to part company with midfielder Fernando and striker Kelechi Iheanacho after having spent over 200 million pounds on new players so far this summer. 30-year-old Fernando is set to join Turkish giants Galatasaray, while 20-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho will undergo a medical ahead of a proposed move to former Premier League champions Leicester City.
Fernando had joined Manchester City from FC Porto for 12 million pounds in 2014 and went on to make 101 appearances for the club. The Brazilian was mostly a backup player for manager Pep Guardiola last season as he appeared in 27 matches but started only one of them in the first eleven. Moreover, he did not travel with the team for their tour of the United States. Kelechi Iheanacho is set to join Leicester City for 25 million pounds, becoming the most valuable player sold by Manchester City this summer.
Iheanacho appeared 28 times for Manchester City last season and scored seven goals, but has only started one match during the whole campaign. Manchester City have signed six new players this summer, three of them full-backs: Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco, Danilo from Real Madrid and Kyle Walker from Tottenham. Goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica, midfielder Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco and 19-year-old midfielder Douglas Luis from Vasco Da Gama also joined the Citizens this summer, while manager Pep Guardiola is believed to be looking for a new central defender as well.
