Premier League defending champions Manchester City are looking to add fuel to a winning streak when they host Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Last season the Citizens defeated the Seagulls 2-0 at home and 4-1 away in the Premier League, and they also collected a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium in the FA Cup. Manchester City have won the last five direct matches between the two sides, and they have not lost a match against Brighton since 1989.
Manchester City returned to winning ways last weekend with a 3-1 victory at Bournemouth, with two goals from Sergio Aguero and one from Raheem Sterling. That was a much-needed victory for Pep Guardiola and his men after the 2-2 draw at Tottenham on August 17, a result which allowed title rivals Liverpool to get a two-point advantage over the Citizens in the league table. Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus are not going to return from their injuries until after the international break, while Leroy Sane also remains sidelined. John Stones is an injury doubt for the home side.
Brighton had a great start to the season, they won 3-0 at Watford in the opening weekend, but then they got held to a 1-1 draw at home by West Ham and lost 2-0 against Southampton last week. They recovered with a 2-1 victory at Bristol Rovers in the League Cup this week, but that opponent is in a completely different weight category than Man City. Florin Andone is suspended after being sent off in last week's match against the Saints, while Jose Izquierdo, Ezequiel Schelotto and Yves Bissouma are all injured.
Probable line-ups:
Man City: Ederson - Walker, Otamendi, Laporte, Zinchenko - De Bruyne, Rodri, D. Silva - B. Silva, Aguero, Sterling
Brighton: Ryan - Duffy, Dunk, Burn - Montoya, Propper, Stephens, March - Gross, Maupay, Trossard
My prediction:
There are very slim chances for Brighton to get anything from this match, Manchester City are the favourites and I think they will get a comfortable 3-0 win.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
Man City win - 1.09
Draw - 11.00
Brighton win - 30.25

Brighton have started the season more than well and probably way beyond what most fans have been expected from them but of course in there was always only one favorite and City confirmed that by cruising past their opponents in this one. Certainly conceding in the 2nd minute of the game would not help any team cause away to City and usually that's indicative of what following.
