Premier League leaders Manchester City are looking to get back to winning ways when they host Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. The Citizens produced an impressive performance in the reverse fixture, they won 6-0 at Vicarage Road as part of their record-breaking 18-match winning streak in the Premier League. Manchester City have won the last seven matches against Watford in all competitions, while the Hornets have not won against their more illustrious opponents since 1989.
Manchester City had their amazing 18-game winning streak halted on New Year's Eve as they were held to a goalless draw at Crystal Palace, but they came very close to losing the match as the Eagles squandered a penalty kick in stoppage time. That match could mean a much-needed wake-up call for Pep Guardiola's men, they can't be complacent in the Premier League because any opponent can cause a lot of trouble. Gabriel Jesus picked up a serious knock at Selhurst Park and will be out of action for more than a month, while Kevin De Bruyne also got injured.
Watford lost their tenth match of the season on Saturday but that was a painful defeat as they got beaten at home by bottom side Swansea. The relegation zone is seven points away, so the Hornets shouldn't be too worried at the moment, but a losing streak might drop them towards the bottom of the table in no-time. They have won just one of their last eight league matches and lost six of them. Manager Marco Silva has a long list of unavailable players: Tommie Hoban, Craig Caithcart, Nathaniel Chalobah, Younes Kaboul, Kiko Femenia, Will Highes, Miguel Britos and Isaac Success are all injured, while Troy Deeney is suspended.
Probable line-ups:
Man City: Ederson - Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Danilo - B. Silva, Fernandinho, Gundogan - Sterling, Aguero, Sane
Watford: Gomes - Janmaat, Prodl, Kabasele, Holebas - Cleverley, Capoue, Doucoure - Pereyra, Gray, Richarlison
My prediction: Manchester City to win 3-0.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
