Premier League: Manchester United extend Marouane Fellaini contract

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has decided to trigger a clause in Marouane Fellaini's contract with the Red Devils, automatically extending his contract at the club until 2018. Fellaini joined Manchester United from Everton in 2013 for 27.5 million pounds and he was on a four-year contract which would have expired at the end of the current season. The 29-year-old midfielder was brought to Old Trafford by David Moyes, his former manager at Everton. He only made 16 Premier League appearances in the Premier League during his first season at Manchester United and he was labelled by the press as one of the worst buys of the campaign. In 2014-2015 he made 27 Premier League appearances and scored 6 goals, but last season he didn't have as many chances to play in the first team under Dutch boss Louis van Gaal. This season he has already made 15 Premier League appearances and last Tuesday he scored during Manchester United's League Cup semi-final win over Hull City. After the goal Fellaini went straight to Jose Mourinho to celebrate, showing his appreciation for the manager's faith in him. After the match, Mourinho said: "He has a very strong mentality and has coped well. He knows he is a very important player for me." Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, and they are 14/1 at Bet365 to win the title this season.
