Chelsea central midfielder Nemanja Matic is close to a transfer to Manchester United, where he will have the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho once again after they have also collaborated at Stamford Bridge. The two clubs have reached an agreement and it is believed the transfer fee will be around 40 million pounds. The Serbian international will have to undergo a medical test and agree personal terms with the Red Devils, but just should be just a formality.
Nemanja Matic, aged 28, has won the title with Chelsea under Jose Mourinho in 2015 and repeated the achievement in 2017 with Antonio Conte as manager. At Manchester United it is believed that Matic will replace veteran Michael Carrick in the middle of the pitch as the England international turns 36 next month. On the other hand, Chelsea are close to signing central midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco, and the 22-year-old French international will most likely take Matic's place in the first eleven at Stamford Bridge.
Matic would become the second transfer of the summer for Manchester United after they have confirmed the arrival of central defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica for 31 million pounds. Nemanja Matic has 32 caps for Serbia and he was bought by Chelsea from Kosice back in 2009. He was sold to Benfica after a couple of seasons as he was unable to break into the first team, but then he returned in 2014 and went on to score four goals in 121 league appearances for the club.
Manchester United are 3/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
