Premier League: Manchester United set to sign Victor Lindelof
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Portuguese side Benfica for the transfer of 22-year-old Swedish defender Victor Lindelof. The Portuguese club have revealed that Manchester United will pay 30.7 million pounds for the central defender and another £8.8 millions could be paid in the future as performance incentives. The transfer is now subject to international clearance and also the player will travel to Manchester to undergo a medical test and agree personal terms with the Red Devils. Manchester United have released a statement confirming the deal: "Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms. A further announcement will be made once the transfer is complete." The transfer should go through after Lindelof returns from an international friendly match in Norway and it will be the first transfer of the summer for Jose Mourinho and his club. Manchester United had been looking for a central defender since January, with Michael Keane and Virgil van Dijk also on their shortlist. Victor Lindelof is one of the most highly-appreciated young central defenders in Europe, he has already earned 12 caps for the Sweden senior national team. He joined Benfica from Swedish outfit Vasteras SK in 2012 and went on to make 73 appearances for the first team, which he helped win the Portuguese top-flight title three times. Manchester United are 3/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
