Premier League: Manchester United vs Burnley preview

Manchester United are looking to extend their winning streak to nine matches in all competitions when they meet Burnley at Old Trafford in the Premier League this evening. The Red Devils won the reverse fixture 2-0 in September, Romelu Lukaku scored both goals and Paul Pogba missed a penalty kick. That was the second consecutive win for Man United over Burnley and the fourth in the last six direct matches. However, the Red Devils were held to draws by Burnley in the last two meetings at Old Trafford. The Clarets have not beaten Manchester United since 2009. Manchester United have won all their eight matches in all competitions since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager, a superb winning streak which has seen the Red Devils defeat Tottenham in the Premier League and Arsenal in the FA Cup last week. Solskjaer and his men are now just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table and they can really hope to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season. Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini are injured and won't be part of the squad for Tuesday's match, but Chris Smalling could make the bench. Burnley suffered a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup last weekend, a disappointing result which ended a five-match unbeaten streak in all competitions for the Clarets. Their last Premier League match was a goalless draw at Watford, but before that Burnley had three consecutive league victories. The fact that they were unable to score any goals in the last two matches is a reason to be concerned for manager Sean Dyche, who still has to do without injured Aaron Lennon and Jonathan Walters. Robbie Brady, Phil Bardsley and Johann Gudmundsson are injury doubts ahead of this match.
