Jose Mourinho faces his former team and might put a dent in their title chances as his Manchester United take on Premier League leaders Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday. Chelsea have already beaten Manchester United twice this season, 4-0 in the reverse league fixture and 1-0 in the FA Cup last month. Manchester United have a very long victory drought against Chelsea, they have not beaten the Blues since 2012 and there have been twelve direct matches since then.
Manchester United are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions, but they have only won three of those games. Last week they secured a 3-0 win at struggling Sunderland before a 1-1 draw in the Europa League at Anderlecht on Thursday. They are currently just outside the Premier League top four, but if they manage to beat Chelsea it would be a huge boost for their chances and also for their confidence ahead of the last seven matches of the season. Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Juan Mata remain injured, but David De Gea and Ashley Young could make their returns.
Chelsea already have one hand on the Premier League title, but it could still slip away from them. They have a seven-point advantage over second-placed Tottenham with seven games left in the season, any defeat could see that advantage reduced to just four points. They recovered from the shock 2-1 defeat at home against Crystal Palace with consecutive wins over Manchester City and Bournemouth, with Eden Hazard scoring in both matches. Manager Antonio Conte has no injury worries ahead of this match.
Probable line-ups:
Man United: De Gea - Valencia, Bailly, Rojo, Blind - Fellaini, Herrera - Lingard, Pogba, Rashford - Ibrahimovic
Chelsea: Courtois - Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill - Moses, Matic, Kante, Alonso - Willian, Costa, Hazard
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
