Manchester United are looking to extend their winning streak to four games in all competitions when they host managerless Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday. Last season the Red Devils defeated the Toffees 2-1 in Manchester but then suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture. That was the first victory for Everton against Man United after eight games, and Manchester United have won three of the last six direct matches.
Manchester United have been looking better and better lately, after three matches without a win in all competitions they managed to grab very important Premier League wins against Tottenham and Manchester City and then defeated AZ Alkmaar 4-0 this week to secure their place in the next round of the UEFA Europa League. Paul Pogba is still sidelined, along with Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Marcos Rojo and Diogo Dalot, while Luke Shaw and Jese Lingard are slight injury doubts for Sunday's game.
Everton have been without a manager for a week, but during that week they grabbed their first victory after three consecutive defeats. That victory was the 3-1 over Chelsea last week, quite a surprising result considering the two teams' recent form. Lucas Digne and Richarlison picked up injuries and were replaced during that match, but interim boss Duncan Ferguson is hoping to have both available for Sunday's game. Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Cuco Martina, Fabian Delph, Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin are injured for the visitors.
Probable line-ups:
Man United: De Gea - Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw - McTominay, Fred - James, Lingard, Rashford - Martial
Everton: Pickford - Sidibe, Keane, Holgate, Digne - Bernard, Sigurdsson, Davies, Iwobi - Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin
My prediction:
Manchester United are looking pretty well at the moment and I think they will extend their winning streak with a 3-1 victory in this match.
