Manchester United will be looking to extend their three-match Premier League winning streak when they host Sunderland at Old Trafford on Boxing Day. Last season Sunderland beat Man United 2-1 at the Stadium of Light, but the match in Manchester was won by the Red Devils 3-0. The Black Cats do have a recent victory at Old Trafford, a 1-0 success recorded in 2014.
Manchester United have won their last three Premier League matches and all of them have been tough: at home against Tottenham and then away at Crystal Palace and West Brom. They are still four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, so they need to keep collecting three points as often as possible. Luke Shaw remains sidelined through injury, but he's the only major injury concern for manager Jose Mourinho.
Sunderland are still in the relegation zone, but they did manage to win two of their last five Premier League matches. Three of their four victories this season have been at home, on the road they only managed to collect a win and a draw out of eight matches. Manager David Moyes still has a very long list of injured players, including Paddy McNair, Lee Cattermole, Lynden Gooch, Jack Rodwell, Jan Kirchhoff and Duncan Watmore. Adnan Januzaj will not play against his parent club as he is currently on loan at Sunderland from Man United.
Probable line-ups:
Man United: De Gea - Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Darmian - Herrera, Carrick - Mata, Pogba, Rooney - Ibrahimovic
Sunderland: Pickford - Love, Kone, Djilobodji, van Aanholt - Pienaar, Ndong, Denayer - Borini, Defoe, Anichebe
My prediction: Manchester United to win 2-0.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Man United win - 1.22
Draw - 6.50
Sunderland win - 13.00
