Premier League leaders Liverpool are looking to resume their winning streak after the winter break when they visit Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday. In the reverse fixture the Reds won 4-0 with goals from Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Divock Origi. Liverpool have won eight of the last ten direct matches and the other two were draws. The last time Norwich won a match against Liverpool was in 1994.
Norwich are at the bottom of the Premier League table after 25 matches, they have won just four and lost fifteen so far. However, they have lost just two of their last five league matches and they can still hope to survive in the league as 17th-placed Aston Villa are seven points ahead. Last time out the Canaries grabbed a goalless draw at Newcastle and their last home match was a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. Timm Klose is the only injury concern for manager Daniel Farke.
Liverpool have won their last 16 league matches and they should return with good freshness after the winter break. Manager Jurgen Klopp insisted that his players should rest, even though the club had an FA Cup match during this break. The Under-23 players were sent to deal with Shrewsbury and they eventually did, but on Saturday the stars will return to the starting eleven. Sadio Mane missed the last two league matches with a hamstring issue and might sit this one out as well, while James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri are in doubt too. Nathaniel Clyne remains a long-term absentee for the Reds
Probable line-ups:
Norwich: Krul - Aarons, Zimmermann, Godfrey, Byram - Tettey, McLean - Cantwell, Duda, Buendia - Pukki
Liverpool: Alisson - Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson - Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum - Salah, Firmino, mane
My prediction:
I can't see how Norwich could stop Liverpool from winning this match, I expect a 3-0 victory for the future Premier League champions.
