Leicester City rising star Riyad Mahrez has finally agreed to sign a new contract with the club. The new deal expires in 2020 and it ends speculation about the player's immediate future. The Algerian midfielder had said that there were two or three clubs that could convince him to leave the Premier League reigning champions. Leicester have managed to keep both Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, who decided to remain with the Foxes despite an offer from Arsenal this summer.
Leicester have only lost central midfielder N'Golo Kante, who joined Chelsea after the London club activated his release clause. Wes Morgan, Andy King and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel have all signed new contracts with the club this summer. Jamie Vardy extended his contract as well. The Foxes have signed several players this summer, including goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, midfielder Nampalys Mendy and forward Ahmed Musa.
Riyad Mahrez has scored 25 league goals in 87 appearances since joining Leicester City in January 2014. He helped the Foxes win the Championship, then contributed to their rescue from relegation and eventually was one of the instrumental players in last season's surprising Premier League success. He represents Algeria at international level, he has 24 caps and 4 goals for his nation.
Leicester City are 50/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League again this season.
