Leicester City are looking to extend their winning streak to four games when they face Southampton at St Mary's on Wednesday. It will be a special match for new Foxes boss Claude Puel as he returns to Southampton for the first time after being sacked by the Saints at the end of last season. Speaking of last season, the Saints defeated Leicester 3-0 at St Mary's in January after having recorded a goalless draw in the reverse fixture. The Foxes have not won at St Mary's since 2012, when both teams were playing in the Championship.
Southampton nearly pulled off a major upset last weekend, they were leading Arsenal 1-0 with just a few minutes left in the game but Olivier Giroud scored a late equalizer for the Gunners. That was the third match without a win for the Saints, who are now 11th in the Premier League table with just four wins out of sixteen matches. They have won just two of their last eight home matches. Cedric Soares is the only injury concern for Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino ahead of this match.
Leicester have found fresh motivation and impetus under new manager Claude Puel, they have won their last three Premier League matches and moved up to eighth place in the Premier League table. If they manage to extend that streak on Wednesday they will probably move closer to the top six and maybe start dreaming of qualifying for the Europa League. Last weekend the Foxes fought back from 1-0 down to record a 3-2 victory at Newcastle United. Matty James and Robert Huth are still injured and won't be able to play on Wednesday.
Probable line-ups:
Southampton: Forster - Soares, Van Dijk, Hoedt, Bertrand - Romeu, Lemina - Redmond, Tadic, Boufal - Austin
Leicester: Schmeichel - Simpson, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell - Albrighton, Ndidi, Iborra, Gray - Mahrez - Vardy
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
