Manchester United are looking for a return to winning ways but they face a tricky away match on Saturday, when they visit Southampton at St. Mary's. Last season the Red Devils fought back from 2-0 down to grab a point at Southampton, while the reverse fixture was won 3-2 by Man United at Old Trafford. Manchester United have won four of the last seven direct matches in all competitions, while the other three were draws. Southampton have not defeated the Red Devils since 2016.
Southampton started the season with back-to-back defeats against Burnley and Liverpool, but then they recovered with a 2-0 Premier League victory at Brighton last week and a 1-0 win at Fulham in the League Cup this week. Nathan Redmond picked up an ankle injury during this week's cup match but he might recover in time for Saturday's game, while Michael Obafemi and Ryan Bertrand are also doubts. Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has made several changes to his line-up for the League Cup match, but he will most likely revert to his strongest eleven for this weekend's game.
Manchester United started the season on a high note, defeating Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford, but then it all went downhill from there. In the following match they were unable to get more than a 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton and last week they suffered their first defeat of the season, 2-1 at home against Crystal Palace. Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot are injured, Anthony Martial is a doubt, while Alexis Sanchez is set to join Inter Milan on loan for the remainder of the season. That leaves manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with limited options, especially in attack, so 17-year-old Mason Greenwood might get his first Premier League start.
Probable line-ups:
Southampton: Gunn - Valery, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Danso - Romeu, Hojbjerg - Boufal, Ward-Prowse - Adams, Ings
Man United: De Gea - Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young - Pogba, McTominay - James, Mata, Rashford - Greenwood
My prediction:
Manchester United are looking all but unbeatable at the moment, but I think they are strong enough to nick a 1-1 draw at St. Mary's.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
Southampton win - 3.95
Draw - 3.25
Man United win - 2.05

1-1 Was a fair result of what the teams have shown in this one I think. United had the upper hand in the first half but the feeling was they should score a second if they want to snatch the points. Pogba, Rashford and Pereira have always been atrocious for United but I don't think Solskjaer has done well from the bench himself, his tactics have been to say the least controversial and substitutions delayed, right now I don't see any progress in United displays compared to the end of last year and that to say the least is worrying..cause they were dreadful then.
