Swansea face a decisive match in their struggle for survival when they face Everton at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. The Swans clinched a good 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture in November and last season they beat the Toffees 2-1 away after a goalless draw at home. Moreover, Everton have not managed to beat Swansea since 2014 and there have been six direct meetings in all competitions between the two sides since then. The last victory for the Toffees at the Liberty Stadium was in 2013.
Swansea can climb out of the relegation zone with a win over Everton, but it depends on what Hull City do in their match against Sunderland earlier on Sunday. Considering that Sunderland are already relegated, Swansea will most likely need the three points to keep their gap behind Hull City at two lengths. Last weekend the Swans grabbed one point at Old Trafford and the week before they beat Stoke City 2-0 to end a three-game losing streak. Jack Cork, Martin Olsson and Leroy Fer are available again after having recovered from injuries, but Jefferson Montero will be out for the rest of the season.
Everton are probably waiting for this season to end as soon as possible, they are certain of finishing seventh in the Premier League table and they don't have any realistic chances of ending up higher. Last weekend they got thumped 3-0 at home by leaders Chelsea, ending their four-game unbeaten run. Moreover, Ronald Koeman's side have failed to win any of their last six league matches away from home. Morgan Schneiderlin picked up a knock in the match against Chelsea but he could feature on Saturday.
Probable line-ups:
Swansea: Fabianski - Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson - Cork, Britton, Carroll - Sigurdsson - Ayew, Llorente
Everton: Stekelenburg - Holgate, Jagielka, Williams, Baines - Gueye, Barry, Davies - Barkley, Lukaku, Mirallas
My prediction: Swansea to win 3-2.
