Premier League side Tottenham have finally made a major signing after a lengthy drought, they have broken their transfer fee record to sign midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Ligue 1 side Lyon. The 22-year-old Frenchman arrives in North London for a fee of 60 million euros, a new record for the Spurs as the previous one was the 42 million pounds paid to sign defender Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in August 2017. Ndombele signed a six-year contract with Tottenham.
Tanguy Ndombele joined Lyon in 2017 from Amiens and immediately established himself as a first-team regular, leading the team to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 last season. He was also called up to the French senior national team and has already earned six caps. He produced impressive displays for Lyon in the Champions League group stage against Manchester City last season, the French side grabbed a 2-1 win and 2-2 draw against the Citizens. In fact, Manchester City were rumoured to be interested in signing Ndombele earlier this summer.
Ndombele is the first real transfer of the summer for Tottenham after new arrival Jack Clarke from Leeds United was loaned back right away to his former club. Tottenham have not made any first-team transfers last summer, but allowed midfielder Mousa Dembele to leave for an adventure in the Chinese Super League. With no transfers in January either, Tottenham finished fourth in the Premier League last season, but surprisingly went all the way to the UEFA Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool.
Now Tottenham are 16/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
