Title contenders Tottenham face rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday evening at White Hart Lane in a match that could either boost the home side's title chances or totally ruin them. The reverse fixture in November ended 1-1, with Harry Kane scoring to make it all square after an unfortunate own-goal scored by Kevin Wimmer. Four of the last six direct matches ended in draws, with each of the two sides getting one win during that interval.
Tottenham are four points behind leaders Chelsea, who play at Everton earlier on Sunday. If the Blues slip up at Goodison Park, the Spurs will have a golden opportunity to close the gap either to two points or to one, making the last four matches of the season as interesting as it gets. Last weekend the Spurs lost 4-2 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals, but they still have an eight-match Premier League winning streak going on. Moussa Dembele picked up a knock and might be forced to sit this one out along with Danny Rose and Erik Lamela.
Arsenal have qualified for the FA Cup final after beating Manchester City last weekend and that might be the only positive aspect in their season. They are very close to missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League for the first time in many years, in fact if they lose at Tottenham they will most likely finish fifth or sixth. They squeezed past Leicester 1-0 in midweek thanks to an own goal late in the game, they will need to do much better against Tottenham. Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny are both injury doubts.
Probable line-ups:
Tottenham: Lloris - Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen - Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies - Eriksen, Alli - Kane
Arsenal: Cech - Gabriel, Koscielny, Holding - Chamberlain, Xhaka, Ramsey, Monreal - Sanchez, Ozil - Welbeck
My prediction: Tottenham to win 3-1.
