Tottenham are looking for their second victory of the season when they host newly-promoted Fulham at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday. The two teams have last met in the FA Cup in 2017 and Tottenham grabbed an easy 3-0 victory in that match. That was the third consecutive win for the Spurs in their matches against Fulham, but the Cottagers did secure a 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane in 2013. Overall, Tottenham have won six of the last seven direct matches against Fulham in all competitions.
Tottenham didn't produce the best of performances last weekend but they did manage to secure a 2-1 victory at Newcastle with goals from Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli. The transfer window is now shut and the Spurs have not signed any new players this summer, that gives him more squad cohesion but some of the fans have already voiced their disappointment at the club's transfer policy. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has several injury problems ahead of this match, Victor Wanyama, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Juan Foyth are all sidelined but Eric Dier and Lucas Moura should be fit despite having picked up knocks last weekend. Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier are still far from match fitness, but Erik Lamela should be able to play now. Son Heung-Min is not available until next month as he represents South Korea at the Asian Games.
Fulham had a disappointing start to their Premier League season as they lost 2-0 at home against Crystal Palace last weekend. The Cottagers did try to make something happen, they had most of the ball possession and six shots on target, but their defending was terrible as they allowed the Eagles to shoot on target no less than nine times. Denis Odoi is suspended for this match, Alfie Mawson and Floyd Ayite are both injured, while Joe Bryan and Tim Ream are injury doubts for the away side. Deadline-day transfer Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa might make his Premier League debut in this match, most likely from the bench.
Probable line-ups:
Tottenham: Lloris - Aurier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies - Dier, Dembele - Moura, Eriksen, Alli - Kane
Fulham: Fabri - Christie, Chambers, Fosu-Mensah, Marchand - Cairney, McDonald, Seri - Schurrle, Mitrovic, Sessegnon
My prediction: Tottenham to win 3-1, the Spurs are much too powerful for Fulham at the moment.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
