Premier League: Tottenham vs Leicester preview

Third-placed Tottenham will be looking to record their fourth consecutive win when they host Leicester City at Wembley Stadium in London today. The Spurs won the reverse fixture 2-0 in December with goals from Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min. Last season the two sides produced a highly spectacular encounter in London, the Spurs won it 5-4 after Leicester had led 3-1. Overall, Tottenham have won four of the last six direct matches in all competitions, while Leicester have won just one of those. The last time Leicester defeated Tottenham in London was in 2016, when they won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from defender Robert Huth. Tottenham have recovered well from the 1-0 home defeat against Manchester United on 13 January, they went on to record three consecutive Premier League wins despite their injury troubles. However, their results in the cup competitions were not nearly as good, they crashed out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace and also lost the League Cup semi-final against Chelsea on penalties. Last week they defeated Newcastle 1-0 with a late goal from Son Heung-Min. Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Vincent Janssen and Ben Davies remain sidelined with injuries. Leicester are in a bit of a slump, they have not won any of their last five matches in all competitions and have lost four of them. It is true that they pulled off a surprising 1-1 draw at league leaders Liverpool at the end of January, but that result was followed by a 1-0 home defeat against Manchester United last week. Those results saw the Foxes drop into the second half of the Premier League table, with no realistic chance of reaching European qualification as sixth-placed Arsenal are 15 points ahead. Daniel Amartey and Marc Albrighton are both injured for Leicester.
