Two of the Premier League's big teams clash on Saturday in probably the most interesting match of the weekend as Tottenham host Liverpool at White Hart Lane. Both teams will be looking to redeem themselves after unconvincing performances in the first two matches of the season, with Tottenham picking up four points so far compared to Liverpool's three. The Spurs have not beaten Liverpool in the last seven Premier League matches, with five wins recorded by the reds in the process. Last season the match at White Hart Lane ended goalless, while the Anfield game ended 1-1.
Tottenham are hoping to challenge for the title this season but so far their form is far from establishing them as title contenders. They opened the season with a 1-1 at Everton, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Last season Tottenham have been strong at home, winning 10 of their 19 matches at White Hart Lane, but their away record was second best only to champions Leicester City. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will be unavailable due to a hamstring problem, but the rest of the first-team players are fit and ready to play. There is just one exception: Moussa Dembele, who is suspended.
Liverpool don't have the burden of European football this season, so they can focus solely on the domestic competitions. They kicked off the campaign with a spectacular 4-3 victory at Arsenal but then they got beaten 2-0 at newly-promoted Burnley. They recovered with a 5-0 thumping of Burton Albion in the League Cup this week, but Tottenham will surely be a much tougher opponent. Emre Can and Divock Origi might not take part in this match after picking up injuries in Tuesday's League Cup match.
Probable line-ups:
Tottenham: Vorm - Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose - Wanyama, Dier - Lamela, Alli, Eriksen - Kane
Liverpool: Mignolet - Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner - Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum - Sturridge, Firmino, Coutinho
My prediction: 3-3 draw.
