Manchester City have smashed Tottenham 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season, a result that led to the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas. This time it should be a more difficult match for the Citizens since the Spurs seem to have found fresh impetus under new boss Tim Sherwood. Spurs have won their last four Premier League matches and are unbeaten in the top flight under the new manager. Former City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been on fire since Villas-Boas's departure, scoring six goals in eight matches in all competitions. Spurs beat City 3-1 at White Hart Lane last season.
Midfielder Paulinho comes back into the squad after missing the last four matches with an ankle injury while Andros Townsend (hamstring) is also set to return to the squad along with Jan Vertonghen (ankle), but Sandro (calf) and Younes Kaboul (thigh) might miss out. City survived a scare against Championship side Watford on Saturday in the fourth round of the FA Cup, but they managed to fight back from two goals down at half-time to win 4-2. The Citizens are in sensational form with 16 wins and three draws in their last 19 matches in all competitions.
Striker Alvaro Negredo, who has scored 23 goals this season, is expected to return against Spurs after being rested against Watford. Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick at the weekend to take his tally to nine goals in his last eight games and 25 in total in all competitions this season. David Silva (hamstring) is also set to return, along with Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho who were given a rest on the bench against Watford.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
