Premier League top four contenders Tottenham are looking to bounce back from the terrible week they had before the international break when they host last-placed Watford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday. Last season Watford defeated Tottenham 2-1 at home but lost by the same score line in the reverse fixture. The two teams also met in the League Cup last season and Tottenham pulled through on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Tottenham lost two games in a week and conceded a massive ten goals, it happened just before the international break when they got hammered 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League and then 3-0 at Brighton in the Premier League. The Spurs have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions and just three of their eight Premier League matches so far this season. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will be out of contention until January after sustaining a dislocated elbow, while Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon are also out injured until the end of the month.
Watford had an infernal start to the season, they have not won any of their eight Premier League matches so far this season and new manager Quique Sanchez Flores has been unable to turn things around after having replaced Javi Gracia in September. They haven't scored any goals in their last three Premier League matches, losing 8-0 at Manchester City, 2-0 at Wolves and then finally snatching a goalless draw at home against newly-promoted Sheffield United. Isaac Success and Troy Deeney are injured, while Sebastian Prodl and Etienne Capoue are doubts.
Probable line-ups:
Tottenham: Gazzaniga - Aurier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose - Sissoko, Winks, Ndombele - Lamela - Moura, Kane
Watford: Foster - Cathcart, Dawson, Kabasele - Janmaat, Cleverley, Doucoure, Pereyra, Holebas - Deulofeu, Welbeck
My prediction:
Tottenham have been quite poor so far this season, but manager Mauricio Pochettino might have sorted some things out during the international break and with Watford as weak as they are, I think the Spurs will be able to grab a 2-0 win.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
Tottenham win - 1.43
Draw - 4.85
Watford win - 7.25
