Tottenham are looking to grab their sixth consecutive Premier League win and consolidate their second place in the table when they host Wolves at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday. The reverse fixture has been a tricky one for the Spurs, even though they had a comfortable advantage at some point. Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane had scored to put Tottenham 3-0 ahead but then Wolves fought back with goals from Ruben Neves and Raul Gimenez and gave the Spurs quite a few headaches in the final minutes of the game. Overall, Tottenham have won three of the last six direct matches, while Wolves have only grabbed one win.
Tottenham have woken up after the 4-2 defeat at Arsenal in the North London derby, they bounced back with five consecutive Premier League wins, a 1-1 draw at Barcelona which allowed them to advance to the next round of the Champions League, and eventually also got their revenge over the Gunners with a 2-0 victory in the quarter-finals of the League Cup. In the last two matches the Spurs collected two high-scoring wins, 6-2 at Everton last week and 5-0 over Bournemouth on Boxing Day. Manager Mauricio Pochettino still has plenty of injured players, with Vincent Janssen, Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen and Serge Aurier still out of contention.
Wolverhampton have been in decent form lately, they have lost just one of their last five Premier League matches and that defeat was against red-hot leaders Liverpool. Before that match they had a three-game winning streak going on, including the surprising 2-1 home defeat over Chelsea. On Boxing Day the Wolves were unable to get more than a 1-1 draw at Fulham, they nearly lost the match but Romain Saiss scored the equalizer with five minutes left. The Wolves are currently 11th in the Premier League table, a whole 14 points clear of the relegation zone. Diogo Jota is the only injury concern for the away side.
Probable line-ups:
Tottenham: Lloris - Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies - Winks, Sissoko - Lamela, Eriksen, Son - Kane
Wolves: Patricio - Bennett, Coady, Boly - Doherty, Saiss, Neves, Jonny - Moutinho - Jimenez, Traore
My prediction: Tottenham to win 2-0, the Spurs can't seem to be stopped at the moment.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
