Premier League: Watford vs Manchester United preview

Manchester United are looking to extend their six-game Premier League unbeaten run when they visit last-placed Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday. Last season the Red Devils defeated Watford in both Premier League matches, and both ended 2-1. In fact, they have won the last five direct matches, while Watford's last succeess against Man United was in 2016. Manchester United have won 13 of the last 14 matches against Watford in all competitions.

Watford are having a nightmare season so far, they have already sacked two managers and new boss Nigel Pearson has brought them a goalless draw against Crystal Palace and a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool. The Hornets have won just one of their seventeen league matches this season and scored just nine goals, that's the kind of record that usually leads to relegation. Former Man United players Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck are injured and won't get to play against their former club, while Jose Holebas, Daryl Janmaat and Sebastian Prodl are sidelined as well.

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last six league matches, and last weekend they got held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford by Everton. This week the Red Devils had an easy 3-0 win over Colchester in the League Cup, a match that saw midfielder Nemanja Matic return to first-team action. Paul Pogba is till out injured, along with Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, while Diogo Dalot is an injury doubt. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will most likely choose to field the same starting eleven that played against Everton last week.

Probable line-ups:

Watford: Foster - Mariappa, Kabasele, Cathcart, Femenia - Hughes, Capoue - Sarr, Doucoure, Deulofeu - Deeney

Man United: De Gea - Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw - McTominay, Fred - James, Lingard, Rashford - Martial

My prediction:

Watford played pretty well against Liverpool last week and were quite unlucky to lose that match. I think they can repeat the performance and walk away with a 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at NetBet
