Defending champions Chelsea are looking to extend their Premier League winning streak to four games when they visit West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday. Last season the Blues won both Premier League matches against the Baggies, both 1-0, and have won three of the last four direct meetings. However, West Brom did beat the Blues 3-0 in 2015 and have won three of the last six matches at home against Chelsea. The Blues have won the last two direct matches at The Hawthorns.
West Brom are in a pretty bad situation, they have lost their last three Premier League matches and have not won a game since August. In fact, they had started the season with two consecutive Premier League wins but then were unable to taste victory in any of the following nine matches. Manager Tony Pulis might find himself under serious pressure before too long as the Baggies are just one point above the relegation zone. James Morrison and Craig Dawson are still injured.
Chelsea have recovered from the shocking 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace with three consecutive Premier League wins, including the 1-0 victory over Manchester United just before the international break. However, just a few days before that good result against the Red Devils they lost 3-0 at AS Roma in the Champions League, so we can never tell what the Blues might do in the next match this season. Victor Moses and Michy Batshuayi are injured and won't be able to play on Saturday.
Probable line-ups:
West Brom: Foster - Nyom, Hegazi, Evans, Gibbs - Barry - Phillips, Livermore, Krychowiak, Chadli - Rodriguez
Chelsea: Courtois - Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill - Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Kante, Alonso - Pedro, Willian - Morata
My prediction: Chelsea to win 1-0.
