West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic revealed his club are going to push for one more signing before the summer transfer window closes at the end of August. The Hammers enjoyed their debut at their new stadium on Sunday as Michail Antonio scored to secure a 1-0 triumph over Bournemouth. Despite the good start to the season, long-term injuries to Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew made Bilic look to further strengthen the squad.
"Are we going to be very active? We are going to try to get one," Bilic said after Sunday's Premier League match. "The chairman is going to be very generous and he will get one if we find the proper one, it's very hard now. There is no club in Europe that has been linked with more players than West Ham and most of them are not true. I am going to speak with the chairman and director of recruitment on Monday and if we get one, it's got to be a good one."
The Hammers did not have an easy match against Bournemouth as they struggled to create scoring chances, but were rescued by Antonio's goal five minutes from time. On the opening day of the season West Ham lost 2-1 at Chelsea, while in between they were held to a 1-1 Europa League draw at Romanian top-flight champions Astra Giurgiu. The Hammers have signed several good players this summer, including Andre Ayew from Swansea and young Argentinian international Jonathan Calleri.
West Ham are 11/4 at Bet365 to secure a top-six Premier League finish this season.
