West Ham are looking to add new players to their squad even after the end of the January transfer window and they can technically do that with players that are not contracted to any clubs. Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra is in such a situation, he has been out of contract since November after leaving Marseille on mutual consent. In fact, he was pretty much forced to leave the French club following a nasty incident: the player kicked one of the club's fans before an Europa League match.
He was banned from European competitions for the rest of the season, but West Ham can employ him in the Premier League and they want to give the 36-year-old Frenchman a contract until the end of the campaign. Manager David Moyes knows Evra very well since the full-back played under him at Manchester United. He left Old Trafford in 2014 and joined Italian champions Juventus, then spent three seasons in Italy before joining Marseille in January 2017. Evra won nine major trophies with Manchester United, including five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.
West Ham did not sign any important players during the January transfer window, they only managed to complete two low-profile signings: Oladapo Afolayan from Solihull Moors and Jordan Hugill from Preston North End. They also sold Andre Ayew to Swansea for 18 million pounds and Diafra Sakho to Rennes. West Ham are currently 12th in the Premier League table after having won just 6 of their 26 matches so far this season. They are just three points above the relegation zone.
West Ham United are 6/1 at Bet365 to get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the current season.
