Newly-promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have broken their transfer record to sign winger Adama Traore for 18 million pounds from Championship side Middlesbrough. The player signed a five-year contract with Wolves and became their fifth signing of the summer. Wolverhampton won the Championship last season and return to the Premier League after six seasons. Traore started his career with Barcelona but he mostly played for the B team before moving to England at Aston Villa in 2015. He did not have much success in Birmingham, just 11 league appearances, but that was enough to convince Middlesbrough to bring him over.
He scored 5 goals in 71 appearances for Middlesbrough during his two seasons at the club, and also provided ten assists. Wolverhampton manager Nuno Espirito Santo has also brought in some fellow Portuguese at Molineux this summer, experienced players Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho joined after having featured at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Full-back Jonny Castro and forward Raul Jimenez have also joined Wolverhampton this summer, both of them on loan from Atletico Madrid and Benfica, respectively.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have won the Championship last season, with an impressive record of 30 victories out of 46 matches. They got relegated from the Premier League in the 2011-2012 season, when they finished last after having won just five matches all season. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo took charge of the club in May 2017, at the end of a season which saw Wolves finish 15th in the Championship. The Portuguese manager and his team start their Premier League season on Saturday when they host Everton at Molineux.
Wolverhampton are 1/10 at Bet365 to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.
