Premier League: Wolverhampton vs Brighton preview

Premier League: Wolverhampton vs Brighton preview

High-flying Wolverhampton can get closer to the Premier League top four if they manage to secure a third consecutive win when they host Brighton at Molineux Stadium on Saturday. The reverse fixture was played in December and it ended 2-2 with Diogo Jota netting a brace for Wolverhampton. Overall, Brighton have won three of the last six direct matches in all competitions, while Wolverhampton have won just one.

Wolverhampton can dream of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, it might sound unrealistic but it really isn't. They can get there through the UEFA Europa League, they qualified for the last sixteen after defeating LaLiga side Espanyol, but they can also get there through the Premier League as fourth-placed Chelsea are just three points ahead of them. Wolves have won their last two Premier League matches, including the spectacular 3-2 success at Tottenham last weekend. Jonny is sidelined for the home side, while Adama Traore might also miss out because he is expected to undergo surgery on his shoulder.

Brighton will have to battle hard to avoid relegation this season, they are not in the relegation zone right now but they are just one point away from it with ten matches left in the season. They are still looking for their first victory in 2020, the last time they won a match was on December 28 against Bournemouth. However, they lost just three of their eight Premier League matches since that victory, and those five draws kept them afloat. Berem Kayal and Jose Izquierdo are the only injury concerns for the visitors, who have won just two of their fourteen away matches so far this season.

Probable line-ups:

Wolverhampton: Patricio - Coady, Boly, Saiss - Doherty, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre - Neto, Jimenez, Jota

Brighton: Ryan - Montoya, Webster, Dunk, Burn - Propper, Stephens - Mooy, Gross, Trossard - Maupay

My prediction:

Wolverhampton are in excellent form and I can't see them missing this chance, I expect a 2-0 victory for the home side.
