Premier League: Wolverhampton vs Chelsea preview

Wolverhampton are hoping to grab their first Premier League victory of the season when they host Chelsea at Molineux Stadium on Saturday. Last season Wolves did manage to beat Chelsea 2-1 at home, while the reverse fixture in London ended 1-1. Those results interrupted a four-game winning streak in all competitions for Chelsea against Wolves. However, Wolverhampton have won two of their last three home matches in the Premier League against the Blues.

Wolverhampton were doing quite well at the start of the season, unbeaten in the Premier League after three consecutive draws and qualified to the UEFA Europa League group stage. The perspective changed just before the international break, when they lost 3-2 at Everton and recorded their first defeat of the campaign. With that result they are just above the relegation zone, not the place to be for a team that has proven worthy of the European stage. Willy Boly is suspended for this match after being sent off against Everton, while Matt Doherty is injured.

Chelsea are still struggling to find the right tempo under new manager Frank Lampard, they started the season with a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Manchester United and never seemed to recover so far. Their last result before the international break was a 2-2 draw at home against newly-promoted Sheffield United, who fought back from 2-0 down. The good news for Chelsea is that young striker Tammy Abraham is scoring regularly, he bagged two goals against Sheffield United and another two in the 3-2 win at Norwich, but they bad news is that the team is also leaking goals quite regularly as well. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi are all injured, but N'Golo Kante, Pedro and Antonio Rudiger are closer to their returns.

Probable line-ups:

Wolves: Patricio - Bennett, Coady, Vallejo - Traore, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre - Jimenez, Jota

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga - Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Alonso - Kovacic, Jorginho, Barkley - Pulisic, Abraham, Mount

My prediction:

Wolverhampton are the better of the two sides at the moment, they deserve to get their first victory of the season and I think they will beat Chelsea 2-1.
