Manchester United play their first away match of the season and it will be a difficult one as they visit the Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Monday evening. Last season the Wolves grabbed a 2-1 home victory over Manchester United in the Premier League after having done the same in the FA Cup a few weeks earlier. Moreover, the Red Devils were unable to defeat them at Old Trafford, that match ended 1-1. Wolves have won three of their last four matches at home against Manchester United.
Wolves have done very well last season, they finished seventh in the Premier League and qualified for an European competition for the first time since 1981. They have already played two qualifying rounds in the Europa League this summer and so far everything is going smoothly, they won 6-1 on aggregate against Crusaders and 8-0 on aggregate against Pyunik Yerevan. However, the most important tie is coming up, on Thursday they face Serie A side Torino in first leg of the play-off. Their Premier League season started with a goalless draw at Leicester last weekend. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo doesn't have any injury worries ahead of Monday's match but he will surely have squad rotation on his mind ahead of the European match.
Manchester United had a great start to the season, they hammered Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford with a double from Marcus Rashford and goals from Anthony Martial and Daniel James. Star midfielder Paul Pogba has still been linked with a move away from the club but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted that the Frenchman will remain at Old Trafford. Alexis Sanchez also seems ready to leave, he is not fit to play at the moment anyway, while Eric Bailly is the only injury concern for the away side.
Probable line-ups:
Wolves: Patricio - Bennett, Coady, Boly - Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny - Jimenez, Jota
Man United: De Gea - Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw - Pogba, McTominay, Pereira - Lingard, Martial, Rashford
My prediction:
Wolves are very strong at home and they have already proven that they are no pushovers in the Premier League, I think Manchester United will grab a 1-1 draw in this match but I wouldn't be surprised to see Wolverhampton win it.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
Wolves win - 3.20
Draw - 3.30
Man United win - 2.35
