Reigning Primera Liga champions Barcelona added more quality to their already stellar attack after completing the signing of Valencia and Spain striker Paco Alcacer for 30 million euro. The young striker, aged 23, is one of the most promising talents in Spain after having scored 30 top-flight goals in three seasons. Alcacer signed a five-year contract with Barcelona. Last season he became club captain at Valencia under head coach Garry Neville. His former club had a poor start to the campaign this season with back-to-back defeats in the first two matchs.
The contract with Barcelona includes a buy-out clause worth 100 million euro. Valencia could get an extra 2 million euro in add-ons. Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has been looking for a new forward since the start of the summer transfer window, a striker that could play as a backup for their world-class trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. The Blaugrana have signed six players this summer, after goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen joined from Ajax, defenders Lucas Digne and Samuel Umtiti plus midfielders Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.
Paco Alcacer already has 13 caps and 6 goals for the Spain national team after being capped at every possible youth level from Under-16 to Under-21. He is a product of Valencia's youth academy and he made his debut for the senior team at just 16 years of age, in the 2009-2010 season. He played just one season away from his boyhood club, in 2012-2013 when he was loaned out at Getafe. He has scored 30 league goals in 92 appearances for Valencia and won the UEFA Under-19 European Championships twice with the Spain team.
Barcelona are 8/13 at Bet365 to win the Primera Liga title once again this season.
